SERVICE CREED
Jesus said: "Whoever gives to one of these little ones a cup of cold water because he is a disciple, I say to you, he shall not lose his reward."
THERE were many duties left to complete, and my shift was almost over. I finished dispensing medications to each patient/client and was halfway out the door when I head the frail voice.
"Nurse, could I have some more water please? Some cold water? Nurse.."
I wanted to pretend I hadn't heard. Someone else could get it. I had to rush to finish my work, or I would be late getting home and my baby sitter would be annoyed. I had dinner to make, a family to care for. Suddenly a verse came into my memory. Cold water-a cup of cold water-in Jesus' name.
PRAYER: Merciful God, let us remember always that our most important task is to serve You through serving others. Let us do it in Your Love. Amen.
